DMC DIGEST :: New Charlotte Venue Is Finalist for Event Site of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 16, 2006) – CenterStage@NoDa, an event and meeting facility in Charlotte’s North Davidson arts district, has been named a finalist for a 2006 Spotlight Award as Event Site of the Year. These prestigious awards, sponsored by Event Solutions magazine, are presented annually to top event industry professionals.
The Spotlight Award for Event Site of the Year will be given to a unique event site that makes a venue hospitable, service-oriented and conducive to fantastic events. To be considered for this award, CenterStage@NoDa detailed its qualifications based upon specific judging criteria, showcased three events held at the venue and included photos of those events, described an event challenge and how it was met and submitted three letters of recommendation from clients and vendors. A panel of judges selected the finalists from the information received. Finalists’ information will be posted on the Events Solution website and visitors to the website can vote for the winner from June 1 to July 23.
Spotlight Awards for 20 categories will be presented at an awards ceremony in Denver, Colo., in August. Previous winners as Event Site of the Year include the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum—USS Midway, A la Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Fla., and Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.
Clients who have held events at CenterStage@NoDa are enthusiastic in their praise. “CenterStage@NoDa is a top notch facility,” said Melissa Pense of Big Shoulders Digital Productions. “Our event travels across the country and has been held in 45 different facilities for the last four years. If you add that up, that’s a whole lot of facilities. It’s not a tough decision to say CenterStage has been #1.”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 21, 2006) – Charlotte Arrangements, the area’s leading event, design and production company, was named Visit Charlotte’s Services Partner of the Year at a presentation held on Tuesday, July 18.
Visit Charlotte, the marketing division of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA), announced the winners of its first Partners of the Year awards at its 2007 Sales and Marketing Plan update meeting. The awards recognize companies who have given above and beyond to assist CRVA with selling Charlotte as a destination. Awards were presented in seven categories; Charlotte Arrangements won the Services category award.
“The Visit Charlotte staff voted for the service partner whom they had worked with the most in giving Charlotte visitors the utmost in event planning and transportation services,” said Molly Hedrick, senior director of communications for CRVA. “Charlotte Arrangements repeatedly defines the meaning of the word ‘partner.’ They not only understand that it is healthy for their business, but they go above and beyond to help the entire region be a success. Specifically, Charlotte Arrangements generously hosted a Visit Charlotte Connection meeting and provided exemplary assistance during the North Carolina Motorcoach Association’s annual meeting. We are lucky to have them in the Charlotte area.”

LONG BEACH, Calif., January 2006 -- While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences celebrates the film industry’s highest achievements, so do the special events industry with its annual Gala Awards. Long Beach-based event planning and production company, Bravo Productions received a prestigious Gala Award by Special Events Magazine in the category of Best Theme Décor - Budget $20,000 - $50,000 at the industry‘s annual awards ceremony recently held in Dallas. Bravo Productions also provides premier destination management services.
Special Events Magazine is an international publication serving event professionals worldwide, and the Gala Awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ for the events industry, honoring the most outstanding achievements over the past year.
The award presented was for theme décor created for the Torrance, Calif.-based Sunrider International event, which was held this past July at the Long Beach Convention Center. Themed “Stories in Color Harmony: Myths, Legends and Fairytales,“ Bravo Productions designed and created a unique and colorful environment that blended five fairytales, using mostly all natural vegetation and floral materials to create the setting.
Founded in 1987, Bravo Productions is a previous Gala Award winner, as well were nominated for their work in staging the grand opening events for the Aquarium of the Pacific. The firm recently received a Silver Award for innovation by Corporate EVENT Magazine.
